Role overview
Build the native mobile connectivity layer that links wearable sensors to apps used by patients and clinicians. You’ll lead Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) development for iOS and Android, focusing on dependable connections and high-quality streaming in homes, clinics, and trial settings.
Responsibilities - Develop and maintain native BLE software development kits for iOS and Android. - Improve pairing, reconnection, data throughput, and battery performance across phones, operating system versions, and usage conditions. - Coordinate with device engineers on firmware interfaces, GATT profiles, and device behavior. - Expose device functions to cross-platform applications through clear, tested native modules. - Use telemetry and field reports to investigate connectivity issues and improve diagnostics. - Contribute to mobile platform priorities and technical direction.
Requirements - At least eight years of mobile development experience, including substantial native iOS with Swift and/or Android with Kotlin. - Production experience integrating BLE peripherals, including pairing, bonding, reconnection, background operation, and data streaming. - Experience integrating sensors or streaming health data from wearables. - A careful approach to reliability, edge cases, device differences, and performance. - Clear communication and ability to work collaboratively in an asynchronous environment.
Nice to have
Experience with React Native or Expo apps and native modules, TypeScript, medical devices, EEG, wearables, clinical or other regulated applications, or open-source mobile and BLE projects.
Benefits and work setup
Remote work is supported; candidates must be based in the U.S. Eastern time zone. The position has in-person office hubs available. The stated salary range is $150,000–$190,000, with equity, paid time off, and other benefits included in the overall compensation package.
