Software Engineer

Role overview This is a remote Software Engineer opportunity focused on billing applications that support premium billing, receipts processing, ACH drafting, claims recovery, delinquency management, COBRA administration, and self-funded billing operations. The engineer will work across both legacy and modern technologies, contributing to new development, enhancements, production support, lifecycle upgrades, and modernization of critical financial systems.

Responsibilities - Design, develop, modify, and integrate complex billing applications throughout the software development lifecycle. - Write, test, debug, and document code, subroutines, and scripts in C# and SQL. - Troubleshoot, enhance, and maintain business-critical applications running in production. - Serve as project lead, business systems analyst, or technical lead on small to medium initiatives, or manage phases of larger efforts. - Respond to production incidents and performance events, taking steps to minimize downtime and prevent recurrence. - Mentor junior engineers and keep current on relevant languages, databases, platforms, and utilities.

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience. - Three or more years of systems and programming experience. - Two or more years of hands-on experience with .NET and/or C#. - Strong SQL skills and experience supporting enterprise business applications. - Solid communication and collaboration skills within cross-functional teams. - Ability to participate in an on-call rotation.

Nice to have - Healthcare or health insurance industry experience, especially with billing, payment processing, or payer systems. - Familiarity with SQL Server, Google BigQuery, MVC web frameworks, and Agile delivery. - Exposure to AIX or COBOL environments.
