About this role

Role overview A principal-level engineering position focused on the data, reporting and application foundations that run a fast-growing professional services firm's internal operations. The role sits inside a corporate technology function that has reframed itself from IT support into a product and platform organisation, and it carries responsibility for both the steady-state reliability of the existing estate and the modernisation of legacy systems onto cloud-ready architectures.

Responsibilities - Engineer, optimise and continuously improve the database estate, with attention to performance, resilience, security and maintainability. - Design and deliver reporting, analytics and data products that improve decision-making across the business. - Modernise legacy data and application solutions in partnership with product owners, engineers and business stakeholders, reducing technical debt. - Build and support business-critical applications that combine data, automation and user experiences to solve real operational problems. - Act as a technical authority for database and analytics engineering, setting best practice and guiding other engineers.

Requirements - Significant hands-on experience designing, building and operating database and analytics solutions at scale. - Strong track record modernising legacy systems towards cloud-based, supportable architectures. - Ability to partner with product owners and non-technical stakeholders to translate business needs into engineering outcomes. - Depth in at least one modern cloud data platform and its associated tooling. - Comfort operating as a senior individual contributor who also sets technical direction for others.

Benefits and work setup - Hybrid working model with flexibility for remote work. - Access to learning and development support, including paid study leave and qualifications. - Private medical and dental cover, pension contributions and a range of lifestyle benefits. - Discretionary performance-based bonus and recognition programmes.
