Senior Engineering Technician (Columbia, MD)

Role overview Support the design, integration, testing, and upkeep of electrical SCADA systems that monitor and control power across a large customer campus and other sites. The work combines field service, controls troubleshooting, and coordination with project engineers and customer teams in secure and non-secure facilities near Columbia, Maryland.

Responsibilities - Help engineers prepare SCADA database and display designs, then build and integrate them with field equipment. - Test system changes during point-to-point checks and commissioning activities. - Keep detailed records of test results, issues, and troubleshooting steps. - Diagnose and resolve system and communications problems in a real-time operating environment. - Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders while handling multiple projects.

Requirements - At least five years of field or service experience in a related discipline, or relevant technical education paired with experience installing, maintaining, or troubleshooting HVAC or SCADA controls. - Ability to interpret electrical layouts, lines, and blueprints. - Some familiarity with electric utilities, power systems, communications, controls, or networking. - Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. - Customer-focused approach, attention to detail, initiative, and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
