Principal Software Engineer

Role overview Provide senior technical leadership across products and engineering teams, taking on the organization’s most consequential software challenges. The work spans architecture, delivery, reliability, and operations, with an emphasis on turning ambiguity into measurable progress and making systems and teams more effective.

Responsibilities - Identify high-impact engineering problems, define success, and lead initiatives from uncertainty through delivery. - Simplify architecture, platforms, and engineering practices so systems are easier to understand, change, operate, and scale. - Recommend technical direction, align teams on a path forward, and help turn strategy into execution. - Coach senior engineers and strengthen team effectiveness through reusable patterns and sound technical decisions. - Contribute across teams and domains, using code, system data, and production experience to build context and credibility. - Use AI tools as a regular part of planning, building, and delivering engineering work.

Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline. - At least ten years of professional software engineering experience, including work at staff, principal, or comparable scope. - Experience designing, building, and operating complex production systems across architecture, delivery, reliability, performance, and operations. - Evidence of growing scope and impact beyond personal code contributions or a single team. - Strong ownership, urgency, and ability to create clarity and momentum in a remote environment. - Curiosity and humility in gathering context, challenging assumptions, and committing once a direction is chosen.

Base salary starts at $200,000, depending on experience; an equity grant is also described, subject to approval.
