Senior Software Engineer

Role overview

A senior software engineer is needed to design, build, and integrate applications that combine back-end services on Linux with modern front-end interfaces. The work sits inside an agile team supporting federal-government programs, with a focus on reliable system and software integration rather than greenfield consumer products. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance within roughly a year of hire.

Responsibilities

- Develop and modify full-stack applications using C++ on Linux, React for the front end, MariaDB for data storage, and Python for supporting tooling. - Design, build, evaluate, and test integrated system and software components end to end. - Help interpret and maintain requirements and software design documents alongside functional leads. - Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback that drives issues to closure. - Operate effectively in an agile team with minimal supervision, partnering across disciplines. - Communicate regularly with functional team leads to align priorities and keep work moving.

Requirements

- Bachelor's with 5-7 years, Master's with 3-5, or PhD with 0-2 years in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related technical field, combined with at least 10 years of professional software development experience. - Hands-on work with C++ on Linux, React, HTML, CSS, and JSON. - Strong grasp of object-oriented software development and automated testing. - Comfort building under Linux-based systems and using common IDEs (Eclipse, VS Code) and team tools such as Bamboo, Maven, JIRA, Confluence, and Bitbucket. - Experience with relational databases including Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL/MariaDB, plus familiarity with network protocols, data transfer methods, and network debugging. - Solid problem-solving, debugging, and communication skills, with the ability to thrive in both independent and team-based settings. - Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret-level security clearance within one year of employment.
