Entry level Software Engineer

Role overview

This entry-level software engineering position supports the development, integration, and testing of applications across Linux and Windows environments. The role suits early-career engineers who can contribute to a Scrum-based team while continuing to build their technical foundation. Work spans multiple languages and platforms, with a focus on delivering reliable, well-documented software.

Responsibilities

- Read, modify, and extend applications built with Java, React, CSS, Python, and related web and systems technologies - Produce and update software documentation alongside test plans and procedures - Contribute to development, system integration, and evaluation activities - Participate in unit testing and integration testing cycles - Help deliver software on schedule with attention to quality and detail - Work within an Agile Scrum process, applying common engineering tools and standards

Requirements

- High school diploma with several years of relevant experience, or active enrollment in a bachelor's program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field - Hands-on object-oriented programming experience in C++ and/or Java - Familiarity with an IDE such as Eclipse, plus tools like Jira, Bamboo, and Git - Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting ability - Clear written and verbal communication - Comfort working both independently with mentors and as part of a coding team

Nice to have

- Development experience on UNIX- or Linux-based systems - Background in web development and/or databases
