Remote job
Senior Staff Product Designer
Job details
About this role
Role overview
A senior design role focused on shaping the user experience for a developer platform that powers large-scale data and API tooling. The work centers on transforming a set of powerful but fragmented capabilities into coherent journeys, while also opening new ground as agent-driven interactions become increasingly important. The position is suited to a self-directed designer who can decide where design effort creates the most value and carry that work from idea to shipped product.
Responsibilities
- Survey product surfaces end to end, identify where design effort has the most leverage, and drive that work from concept through execution - Lead the modernization of core developer experiences, turning disconnected features into cohesive end-to-end journeys - Partner with engineering as an equal collaborator, forming an independent point of view on what should get built and making the case for it - Set design and craft standards that other designers, product managers, and engineers adopt, contributing reusable patterns to the design system - Decide when usability research is needed and when direct design judgment is sufficient - Connect design work to measurable outcomes such as developer activation, time-to-first-successful-API-call, and reductions in support cost
Requirements
- 12 or more years designing software, with a portfolio of shipped work - Experience designing technically complex products for technical users, such as developer tools, infrastructure, data platforms, security, identity, or API products - A track record of identifying high-leverage problems independently and designing end-to-end solutions - Strong visual design and craft skills - Ability to operate independently, turning ambiguous problems into a clear product vision - History of proactively surfacing problems and building alignment with engineering rather than waiting for direction
Nice to have
- Experience shipping developer-focused experiences, API tooling, or agent-driven products - An engineering or developer background, including contributions to production code - Comfort moving fluidly between high-level strategy and detailed interaction work - Fluency working within a design system, including knowing when to work outside it - Active user of AI design tools, with perspective on their strengths and limits
Benefits and work setup
- Remote position open to candidates based anywhere in the United States
