About this role

Role overview A cross-functional engineering role in the defense technology sector, focused on qualifying and ramping composite materials suppliers that feed production across multiple product lines. The engineer partners closely with internal engineering, quality, supply chain, and manufacturing teams while spending significant time on-site at supplier facilities.

Responsibilities - Own composite commodities and execute supplier production strategies from NPI through full-rate production - Vet suppliers' production capabilities, factory layout, facilities, and workforce for inclusion in the Approved Supplier List - Stand up new tooling and production lines at suppliers, ensuring materials, processes, and tools meet quality and demand requirements - Drive capacity expansion readiness and production ramp-up at supplier sites - Establish and run SPC reviews, and identify process and layout improvements that lower part cost, reduce supply risk, and improve cycle time - Partner with Supplier Quality Engineers on root-cause task forces and close out corrective and preventive actions at the supplier

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in supply chain, engineering, or a related technical field - 6+ years of experience in supplier quality and industrialization within a manufacturing environment - Category technical expertise in composites manufacturing, metallurgy, IPC standards, CAD, and GD&T - Ability to travel at least 50% of the time - On-site presence at locations including Costa Mesa, CA - Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. TS clearance

Nice to have - Bachelor's degree in mechanical or metallurgical/materials engineering - Experience in defense, aerospace, automotive, or high-tech industries - Familiarity with high-mix, low-volume product development and fast-paced, start-up environments - Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
