About this role
Role overview A contract Automation Engineer position embedded in an AI and Technology Operations group, focused on building and maintaining API-driven integrations and workflow automations across an enterprise operational technology stack. The role spans the full delivery lifecycle, from requirements gathering through deployment, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance. A central emphasis is extending AI agent capabilities by connecting agents to live business data and enabling them to take approved actions.
Responsibilities - Build, configure, and maintain API-driven integrations across collaboration, CRM, ITSM, knowledge management, and iPaaS platforms, including event triggers, webhooks, scheduled jobs, and error-handling routines. - Design and implement multi-step workflow automations for case routing, contact enrichment, alert distribution, and cross-system data reconciliation. - Develop Google Apps Script solutions that extend Workspace tools and connect them with external systems through custom triggers, sidebar tools, and scheduled jobs. - Define tool schemas, author system instructions, and build workflows that allow AI agents to retrieve information and perform approved actions across live APIs and knowledge sources. - Build Slack-based operational experiences such as bots, slash commands, workflow automations, and notification systems that surface information from CRM, ITSM, and knowledge platforms. - Monitor production automations through logging, alerting, and access controls, investigating incidents and improving reliability over time.
Requirements - Hands-on experience querying and writing records via REST APIs, Bulk API, or SOQL, with a working understanding of standard CRM objects. - Familiarity with ITSM integration patterns such as Table API, scripted REST, or integration hub workflows. - Experience building Slack platform features including bots, slash commands, interactive payloads, or Workflow Builder automations. - Scripting proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript for glue code, data transformation, and scheduled automation jobs. - Comfort working independently, managing a personal backlog, and delivering working solutions with minimal specification.
Nice to have - Experience building or extending AI agent tooling, integrating LLM APIs, or authoring system prompts for operational agents. - Familiarity with enterprise search platforms such as Glean, CI/CD pipelines for automation code, and prior work syncing records between CRM and ITSM systems.
Benefits and work setup - Hourly contractor pay range of $40 to $50. Remote-first arrangement within the US.
