Software Engineer I, Frontend (Upfunnel)

Role overview Build and improve the frontend experiences shoppers encounter before checkout, helping them understand available payment options on merchant sites. The work spans customer-facing web interfaces, promotional messaging, experimentation, and tools used by developers, with attention to accessibility, performance, and reliability.

Responsibilities - Develop and maintain high-traffic frontend experiences, including promotional content and experimentation features. - Contribute to browser-based payment experiences and tooling for other developers. - Work with teammates and stakeholders to communicate progress, risks, and technical trade-offs. - Balance rapid delivery with quality and service reliability. - Use browser debugging, monitoring, metrics, and tests to support consistent cross-browser behavior and investigate operational issues. - Take part in team learning and development activities.

Requirements - Work or internship experience shipping web applications with a declarative UI framework such as React or Vue. - Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript. - Ability to translate a business need into a solution involving multiple software components, and to write clear, tested, extensible code. - Comfort working in a large codebase, debugging existing code, and giving feedback through code reviews. - Strong written and verbal communication, collaborative habits, and openness to feedback.

Benefits and work setup - Remote role for candidates residing in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan. - Annual base pay range is CAD 101,000–151,000. The compensation package may also include equity, health and wellness stipends, and medical, dental, and vision coverage.
