Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Payments)

Role overview Build and operate backend systems that support customer payments and handle large transaction volumes. You’ll deliver work in stages, partner with product and design colleagues on technical decisions, and help maintain reliable services.

Responsibilities - Break larger projects into deliverable tasks and coordinate with teammates through to completion. - Contribute to product planning by explaining technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs. - Create and monitor service metrics, respond to operational issues, and take part in on-call support. - Write clear, tested, extensible code and review changes across a large codebase. - Participate in team development activities, including interviewing.

Requirements - At least 1.5 years of software engineering experience. - Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and proficiency in Python or Kotlin. - Experience designing, building, and launching backend systems and APIs. - Familiarity with distributed systems and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes. - Able to turn business needs into solutions spanning multiple software components, debug existing code, and give constructive review feedback. - Strong written and spoken communication skills, with a proactive approach to learning and seeking feedback.
