Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Lakehouse Infra)

Role overview

Build and run the data lakehouse infrastructure that supports offline data access for machine learning, product, and financial engineering workloads. Responsibilities

- Own quarterly team goals and guide engineers through ambiguous, open-ended infrastructure work. - Collaborate with product, design, and analytics partners to shape solutions, explain constraints, and weigh risks and trade-offs. - Identify and lead resolution of technical, process, project, or business issues. - Monitor service health, respond to operational needs, and participate in on-call support. - Establish and improve code review and design practices; share standards through writing and technical talks. - Coach teammates through feedback and technical guidance.

Requirements

- At least 4 years designing, building, and launching backend systems at scale, using Python, Kotlin, or similar languages. - Experience developing highly available distributed systems, with technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes. - Ability to develop technical plans and deliver significant system components with clear, extensible designs and readable code. - Experience making substantial changes safely in a large codebase. - Strong written and verbal communication skills for collaboration across a global engineering team. - A related bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
