Senior Software Engineer, Backend (International)

Role overview Lead backend engineering work for payment systems serving international markets. The team builds bank and card payment capabilities, improves existing customer journeys, and develops reusable foundations for entering new countries. You’ll guide work from technical design through production operation, with a focus on reliability, security, and sound engineering practices.

Responsibilities - Own quarterly team goals and guide engineers through open-ended problems and delivery. - Shape product decisions with product, design, and analytics partners by clarifying technical constraints, risks, and trade-offs. - Identify and lead responses to project, process, technology, or business issues. - Monitor service health, escalate concerns, and participate in operational and on-call support. - Set and improve code review and design standards, sharing practices through writing and technical talks. - Coach teammates through feedback, guidance, and example.

Requirements - At least four years of experience building and launching backend systems at scale, using Python or Kotlin or similar languages. - Track record developing highly available distributed systems; familiarity with AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes is relevant. - Ability to plan delivery of significant features or system components with simple, extensible designs. - Skilled at making substantial changes safely in large codebases and establishing tools and practices to support that work. - Strong communication skills and a habit of seeking feedback and taking ownership of professional growth.
