Role overview Lead architect for a cloud-native web applications platform that delivers real-time weather intelligence for federal missions. The role defines the technical strategy and engineering standards for a micro-frontend and microservices ecosystem running on AWS, targeting high reliability and strong federal compliance.
Responsibilities - Drive end-to-end architecture for a cloud-native micro-frontend ecosystem and distributed data platform on AWS. - Define modular, scalable patterns for micro-frontends, microservices, APIs, and real-time streaming pipelines. - Build REST/GraphQL APIs and Node.js BFF services on Kubernetes for high-performance web clients. - Deliver responsive cloud-hosted micro-frontends using JavaScript/TypeScript with React (Angular or Vue also welcome). - Architect real-time hazard streaming using WebSockets, SSE, and event-driven pipelines. - Design caching, tiling, and delivery strategies for geospatial and time-series data, including spatial and historical analytics. - Establish secure RBAC via AWS Cognito/JWT and ensure alignment with FISMA High and federal security standards. - Partner with DevOps on CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code, shaping roadmap discussions and mentoring engineers.
Requirements - 6+ years of full-stack engineering experience, including leadership of complex cloud-native programs. - 5+ years of hands-on microservices and API development with Kubernetes orchestration. - Strong AWS experience with EKS, S3, DynamoDB, and RDS. - Expertise in modern JavaScript/TypeScript and micro-frontend design, with React strongly preferred. - Strong API design skills (REST, GraphQL) plus Docker and container orchestration on AWS. - Excellent problem-solving, communication, and technical leadership capabilities.
Nice to have - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field. - AWS Solutions Architect certification. - Experience with meteorological data formats such as GRIB, BUFR, or NetCDF and geospatial databases like PostGIS. - Background in FISMA-regulated environments, scientific computing, or advanced AWS serverless patterns alongside EKS.
