Role overview This intermediate-level ServiceNow engineering position supports a federal-sector consulting practice that helps government agencies modernize service management and mission delivery. The engineer leads portions of the ServiceNow team's design and development work, building both out-of-the-box and custom solutions while mentoring more junior developers on code quality, security, and technical-debt management.
Responsibilities - Configure, develop, and customize ServiceNow applications, including reports, custom modules, and data migrations across one or more platforms. - Build and maintain third-party integrations, perform unit testing, and resolve defects through production release. - Contribute to technical design documentation and partner with clients, leadership, and end users to clarify objectives, risks, dependencies, and desired outcomes. - Assist Product Owners with backlog grooming, roadmap refinement, and release planning and prioritization. - Support the Support Team on escalated issues spanning custom applications, permissions, security settings, custom objects, and workflows. - Provide work-effort estimates, design and code solutions, and follow an iterative delivery methodology across the full development lifecycle.
Requirements - 3+ years of hands-on ServiceNow implementation experience. - Working knowledge of core ServiceNow modules such as ITSM, ITOM, ITAM, HAM, SAM, CMDB/Configuration Management, and Virtual Agent. - U.S. citizenship with an active Top Secret security clearance. - Must be local to the Washington, D.C. area. - Ability to collaborate directly with clients, stakeholders, and end users on capability requirements and user-interface specifications.
Nice to have - Prior exposure to public-sector or federal-agency engagements and mission-driven delivery environments. - Experience mentoring junior developers and driving continuous-improvement initiatives.
Benefits and work setup - Reported base pay range of approximately $78,600–$160,200 USD, varying by location, skill set, and experience. - The role supports a flexible, proactive environment intended to respond quickly to shifting project priorities and mission objectives.
