Senior Mobile/TAK Developer

Role overview Develop and maintain Android applications and plugins for a tactical awareness ecosystem, including mobile mapping, situational awareness feeds, and server connectivity. This senior, hands-on role translates operational needs into production software, collaborates with government users, and contributes to team quality through technical guidance and code review.

Responsibilities - Design, build, and maintain native Android applications and plugins for tactical awareness products. - Extend plugins using the ecosystem’s development SDK, integrating messaging, geospatial overlays, and situational data feeds. - Own mobile architecture concerns such as local storage, plugin lifecycle, performance, and server API integration. - Work with government customers and end users to turn operational requirements into software capabilities. - Deliver production-ready code and mentor junior developers through reviews of code and design decisions.

Requirements - At least five years of native Android development using Java and/or Kotlin. - Experience with mobile architecture, lifecycle management, and performance optimization. - Proficiency with source control such as Git. - Experience developing tactical awareness plugins or hands-on familiarity with the related ecosystem, including server integration or messaging. - Ability to contribute customer-facing production code from the outset.

Nice to have Experience with the ecosystem’s SDK and developer resources, geospatial libraries or mapping standards, Python or Go, SQL or NoSQL databases, automated testing, static analysis, and continuous integration. Also useful: support for defense exercises or operational deployments, concurrent project work, AWS, Red Hat Linux, REST services, and agile development.
