About this role
Role overview Design, deliver, and support reliable IT and operational technology infrastructure for industrial environments where outages matter. This hands-on senior role spans cloud and on-premises systems, customer delivery, Kubernetes operations, incident response, automation, and reliability practices. You’ll help shape how a small team works while staying accountable for the systems it puts into production.
Responsibilities - Work with customers to understand their environments, gather requirements, estimate effort, and deliver solutions from design through ongoing support. - Design secure, recoverable infrastructure sized for each environment, and deploy Kubernetes platforms and stateful applications across varied sites. - Participate in on-call support, resolve incidents, investigate root causes, and improve systems to prevent recurring failures. - Create runbooks, alerts, automation, and self-healing processes that reduce manual work and improve recovery. - Provision infrastructure with infrastructure-as-code tools and maintain declarative, version-controlled GitOps deployments. - Build monitoring and dashboards, define customer-relevant service indicators and objectives, and reduce alert noise.
Requirements - At least 5 years of experience in SRE, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering. - Strong production Kubernetes experience and familiarity with GitOps tooling such as Argo CD, Fleet, or FluxCD. - Solid understanding of infrastructure-as-code approaches and tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or Crossplane. - Experience responding to real incidents and supporting systems through an on-call rotation. - Ability to adapt to differing customer environments, work through ambiguity, and communicate clearly in customer discussions and documentation. - An ownership mindset: automate repetitive work, favor stable production systems, and use incidents to drive broader improvements.
Nice to have - Azure, SUSE tools such as RKE2 or Rancher, or industrial, manufacturing, and OT experience. - Familiarity with Ignition or MQTT, and experience working in a startup or small team.
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote work from anywhere in the world. - Medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits. - A small-team environment that emphasizes candid communication and learning from mistakes. The work can involve demanding hours and shifting priorities.
