Job details
About this role
Role overview Own and shape internal infrastructure so observability and automation work as a dependable platform for engineering teams. The role combines systems engineering with platform development: improving the monitoring ecosystem, making reliability measurable, strengthening delivery security, and keeping production systems stable while evolving the technology stack.
Responsibilities - Develop the observability stack, including Prometheus, Grafana, and Forgejo, into a coherent monitoring platform. - Create actionable alerts and define service-level objectives that help teams detect and prevent reliability issues. - Evaluate and integrate open-source alternatives to proprietary tools, guiding technology choices and adoption. - Build security checks into development and delivery workflows and identify vulnerabilities early. - Investigate Linux systems and distributed services, balancing experimentation with production stability.
Requirements - Demonstrated experience implementing metrics, logs, and traces and turning telemetry into useful operational insight. - Strong Linux and systems engineering skills, including comfort working in the terminal. - Understanding of how distributed systems communicate and how they fail. - Ability to design reliable monitoring, alerts, and service-level objectives. - Security engineering experience applied to development or release pipelines. - Initiative to build and improve platforms, alongside clear communication and collaborative working skills.
Benefits and work setup - Open-source-oriented environment with end-to-end responsibility for internal systems. - 30 days of annual leave, plus December 24 and 31 off; flexible Fridays may allow a four-day week. - Public transport and bike benefits, sports and health offerings, mental health support, and opportunities to learn through conferences and community events. - Regular team meetups take place in Germany, and travel to attend is part of the role.
