Data Migration Specialist
Job details
About this role
Role overview
This role owns the data side of onboarding for a cloud-native ERP platform used by small and mid-market distributors. The specialist leads end-to-end data migration from each client's legacy system into the new platform, using AI-assisted coding tools to profile, map, and validate exports. The position is being created to centralize migration work so onboarding specialists can stay focused on the client relationship.
Responsibilities
- Secure access to client data, working directly with the client and their current software vendor when needed, and extract information from a wide range of legacy systems. - Profile unfamiliar exports with AI coding tools, interpret what legacy fields actually mean, and adapt migration scripts to each client's data shape. - Run, review, and validate loads covering customers, items, pricing, inventory, units of measure, open orders, and historical records. - Execute the final data pull at launch and confirm integrity before go-live. - Keep multiple in-flight migrations organized, documented, and repeatable so launches stay consistent as volume grows. - Partner with onboarding specialists on each engagement and collaborate with engineering when the migration code itself needs a deeper change.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience with data migration, including extracting, transforming, and loading business data. - Comfort using AI coding assistants as a primary tool, paired with the judgment to check their output carefully. - Working SQL skills and fluency with databases, CSV/Excel exports, and light scripting. - Strong English communication skills for client-facing and internal work. - Highly organized, able to manage several concurrent migrations at different stages. - Self-directed; able to investigate unfamiliar legacy data and resolve ambiguity without hand-holding.
Nice to have
- Prior exposure to distribution, wholesale, or supply chain data. - Experience migrating from established distribution ERPs, QuickBooks, or custom in-house databases. - Familiarity with cloud-native ERP environments.
Benefits and work setup
- Full-time, ongoing remote position based in the United States, with occasional travel to client sites when a launch requires it. - Overlap with US Central Time for team and client meetings. - Reports into Customer Success and works closely with the onboarding and engineering teams. - Competitive compensation and benefits, including health insurance.
