Job details
About this role
Role overview A New Games team is hiring a senior-level Visual Effects and Animation Generalist to shape the dynamic, satisfying motion language of a polished mobile puzzle title. This is a hands-on creative role covering the full lifecycle of effects work—from early ideation through in-engine implementation—inside a tightly cross-disciplinary studio. The position centers on Unity-based real-time VFX, animation, and gameplay feedback for free-to-play casual games.
Responsibilities - Own, build, and continuously optimize the VFX and animation pipeline, designing workflows tuned for highly tactile, rewarding puzzle interactions. - Create high-quality visual effects and animations from concept and visual exploration through final in-engine polish. - Design and implement "juicy" celebratory feedback that makes every player action feel responsive and satisfying. - Apply modern Unity tooling, including the Animation timeline, Particle System, Shader Graph, URP, custom materials, and animation-driven effects. - Translate rough ideas, prototypes, and gameplay requirements into clear, performance-conscious in-engine effects. - Optimize effects for mobile, balancing visual ambition with memory, frame budget, readability, and production constraints. - Partner with tech art and engineering on shaders, tooling, profiling, and runtime performance.
Requirements - Senior, Lead, or Principal-level experience producing real-time VFX and animation for casual puzzle or other highly polished free-to-play games. - Demonstrated ownership of, or major contribution to, a VFX and animation pipeline targeting mobile platforms. - Strong grasp of foundational animation principles applied to gameplay elements, UI, and effects. - Deep, hands-on Unity experience building VFX and animations directly in-engine. - Portfolio showing polished in-game effects and motion design, with emphasis on satisfying player feedback. - Solid understanding of mobile performance constraints and optimization techniques, plus the ability to troubleshoot visual and sorting bugs.
Nice to have - A self-directed style: proactively scanning the game, identifying what needs improvement, and proposing visual directions. - Comfort owning a feature end to end—concept, direction, implementation, polish, and stakeholder alignment. - Clear communication of creative and technical choices, openness to feedback, and a collaborative mindset across art, design, tech art, engineering, and production.
Benefits and work setup - Competitive salary with a company bonus scheme. - Private medical care plus a healthcare cash plan that includes dental and optical coverage. - Life insurance and a favorable pension scheme. - Onsite chef providing breakfast, lunch, and snacks. - Modern hardware and access to gaming consoles in the workspace. - Equal-opportunity employer committed to diverse teams, with accommodation support available during the application and interview process.
