Role overview This Staff Software Engineer role focuses on applied machine learning for a high-volume online employment marketplace, where billions of historical postings, tens of millions of active seekers, and hundreds of billions of impression and click events create a rich substrate for data-driven features. The engineer will design and ship advanced ML models and algorithms that directly help millions of people connect with their next job. The position sets technical direction for machine learning engineers while staying hands-on with model design, pipelines, experimentation, and large-scale system architecture.
Responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain advanced machine learning models and algorithms that solve complex business problems. - Lead end-to-end ML projects spanning training data curation, feature engineering, modeling, and validation. - Architect scalable and robust ML systems and infrastructure that support production inference. - Drive innovative uses of AI across the organization and set the technical tone for ML engineers. - Track emerging ML and AI research and adopt new techniques where they add measurable value.
Requirements - 7+ years of professional software development experience with a deep focus on machine learning. - Comprehensive knowledge of ML algorithms, techniques, and best practices. - Extensive experience in ML model design, data pipeline design, experimentation and validation design, and system or architecture design.
Nice to have - 10+ years of professional software development experience with an ML focus. - BS, MS, or PhD in Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. - Deep expertise with frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or scikit-learn. - Background in deep learning architectures including CNNs, RNNs, LSTM, and GANs. - Strong NLP skills using tools like NLTK, SpaCy, or BERT, including tokenization, sentiment analysis, and named entity recognition.
