Senior Engineering Manager - Platform Engineering

Role overview

This is a senior leadership role guiding one or more core domains of a large-scale, multi-tenant marketing platform. The position blends deep technical ownership with people leadership, shaping architecture direction, roadmaps, and delivery while remaining hands-on with design reviews and production operations. The manager is accountable for the technical execution, operational excellence, and adoption of shared platform capabilities that other product engineering teams depend on.

Responsibilities

- Own the architecture, implementation, operational excellence, and adoption of assigned platform domains, including authentication, tenancy, notifications, APIs, and shared developer tooling - Lead technical direction for shared services, schemas, and reusable primitives, and run design reviews against platform architecture and engineering standards - Translate platform strategy into executable roadmaps, balancing new investment against operational responsibilities and technical debt - Build, coach, and develop a high-performing team of platform engineers and technical leads, fostering engineering quality and continuous improvement - Partner with product engineering teams to understand platform requirements, remove friction, and drive adoption of self-service capabilities - Embed observability, security, scalability, multi-tenant isolation, and cloud cost efficiency into platform design, and guide migrations and versioning

Requirements

- Significant experience building and operating large-scale distributed platforms or multi-tenant SaaS systems - Demonstrated success leading engineering teams responsible for platform, backend, or infrastructure services - Strong technical expertise in distributed systems, APIs, cloud-native architectures, and shared platform services - Operational knowledge of observability, incident management, and production readiness for highly available services - Track record partnering across multiple engineering teams to deliver shared capabilities and drive adoption - Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to mentor engineers and grow technical leaders

Nice to have

- Background in marketing technology, customer-data, analytics, or other large-scale SaaS platforms - Hands-on familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, Kafka, Snowflake, ClickHouse, Iceberg, PostgreSQL, Redis, or comparable technologies - Experience implementing identity, authorization, multi-tenancy, API gateways, or workflow orchestration tooling - Exposure to cloud cost optimization and FinOps practices
