Job details
About this role
Role overview
Build and improve a digital platform that helps schools find educators and helps educators find short- and long-term work. Product engineers work in small teams, take problems from discovery through delivery, and focus on measurable real-world outcomes. This US-based role is remote in the Central or Eastern time zones and is intended for an early engineering hire in the region, with an opportunity to help grow the local team.
Responsibilities - Clarify loosely defined user and operational problems with product, operations, and engineering partners. - Design, build, and iterate on product capabilities across educator, school, and internal operations workflows. - Take ownership of projects end to end, adapting scope and direction as teams learn. - Build reliable platform features, including administrative tools and systems for managing permissions and sensitive actions where needed. - Share knowledge and contribute to engineering practices that help the team work effectively and sustainably. - Collaborate across US, West Coast, and European time zones.
Requirements - Software engineering experience suited to owning product work from problem definition through implementation. - A product mindset: start with user or operational needs, deliver iteratively, and learn from outcomes. - Ability to work through ambiguity, build relationships quickly, and take initiative. - Collaborative habits and an interest in helping the team succeed without relying on individual heroics. - Availability to work remotely in the US Central or Eastern time zones.
Nice to have
Experience with education staffing, marketplace products, internal operations tools, permissions, audit logging, or applying AI to product and engineering workflows may be relevant; the source presents these as examples of team work, not explicit prerequisites.
