Role overview
A newly created leadership role owning internal IT operations and security for a fast-growing organisation of roughly 600 people across the UK and US. The position reports into the CTO and partners with Business Systems, People, and Finance teams. The mission is to replace ad-hoc manual processes with automation, governance, and modern security defaults that scale as the company grows.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end identity and access management, including joiner, mover, and leaver lifecycle automation - Lead SaaS governance, including vendor consolidation, licence rationalisation, and tool inventory hygiene - Drive endpoint management and security posture across a distributed device fleet - Build continuous audit readiness through evidence collection and clearer controls - Champion modern IT practice including automation and AI-assisted operations - Translate security and IT risks into proportionate, business-aware decisions and communicate them to non-technical stakeholders
Requirements
- Background scaling IT, Corporate IT, or Security Operations in a company that grew from a few hundred people to a much larger size - Hands-on depth in identity and access, endpoint management, and automation - Working knowledge of SaaS governance, vendor and licence management, audits, certification, incident response, and data protection - Strong written and verbal communication across technical and business audiences - A builder's mindset with a track record of turning manual, messy processes into scalable systems - Comfort being the first dedicated owner of a function and defining its playbook
Nice to have
- Experience designing controls proportionate to a mid-stage growth company - Familiarity with AI-assisted IT operations tooling
