Reliability Engineer / Devops - Database Platform

Role overview A Reliability/DevOps Engineer position supporting a financial database platform built around business-critical database systems and related operational processes. The role centers on keeping large-scale, terabyte-sized database environments stable, available, and performant, with a strong emphasis on incident prevention and operational excellence.

Responsibilities - Monitor and maintain the reliability and availability of business-critical database systems in production environments. - Operate and support database environments containing terabytes of data, ensuring stable day-to-day performance. - Plan and execute database version upgrades, patching, and recurring maintenance activities. - Design and carry out data migrations that protect availability and integrity while minimizing risk. - Investigate incidents, troubleshoot performance and reliability issues, and contribute to root-cause analysis. - Build automation and tooling that reduces manual operational toil across the database estate.

Requirements - Hands-on experience operating production database systems in a reliability-focused environment. - Familiarity with performance monitoring, alerting, troubleshooting, and incident management practices. - Practical experience with data migrations and/or database version upgrades. - Solid Linux and infrastructure troubleshooting skills. - Ability to work independently and take ownership of production reliability topics. - Background in DevOps practices, automation, and infrastructure tooling.

Nice to have - Experience with AWS. - Familiarity with Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools. - Exposure to enterprise monitoring and observability platforms. - Previous work with Oracle databases. - Experience managing databases at terabyte scale. - Background in Database Reliability Engineering (DBRE) or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE). - Experience supporting systems in financial services or other highly regulated industries.
