Job details
About this role
Role overview
A hands-on Atlassian platform engineer and IT service management (ITSM) practitioner is needed to support an enterprise software-development-lifecycle environment for a federal defense healthcare management program. The position blends platform administration, business analysis, technical delivery, and customer-facing solution design across Jira, Jira Service Management, Confluence, and adjacent tooling. The role partners with government stakeholders, process owners, platform administrators, vendors, and engineering teammates to translate operational needs into scalable workflow and service-management solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead requirements discovery, solution consulting, and end-to-end delivery for platform enhancements, from intake through design, configuration, testing, release, adoption, and closure. - Translate operational needs into process flows, solution options, implementation proposals, timelines, risks, dependencies, and decision points for diverse stakeholder groups. - Configure and administer Jira, Jira Service Management, Confluence, and related capabilities, including workflows, schemes, screens, fields, permissions, notifications, automations, dashboards, and request types. - Apply role-based access and least-privilege principles, validate changes in test and production environments using disciplined change, verification, and rollback practices, and maintain configuration baselines. - Provide Tier 1/2 support for service requests, access issues, workflow questions, and defects; coordinate escalation and support incident, problem, change, and release management activities. - Drive adoption, documentation, and knowledge continuity through job aids, SOPs, training sessions, cross-training, and structured knowledge-transfer during tool or contract transitions.
Requirements
- 5+ years of combined experience in enterprise platform engineering or administration, business or process analysis, ITSM, software-lifecycle tooling, or technical delivery. - Demonstrated hands-on experience administering Jira and/or Jira Service Management in an enterprise environment, covering workflows, fields, schemes, permissions, automations, and user access. - Working knowledge of Confluence and experience integrating Atlassian tools with other enterprise systems; familiarity with REST APIs, ScriptRunner, or marketplace add-ons is strongly preferred. - Solid understanding of ITSM practices, including service request, incident, problem, change, release, and configuration management. - Experience operating in a controlled production environment with disciplined testing, documentation, access control, change management, and stakeholder communications. - Prior federal, DoD, or other highly regulated technology experience, with a current CompTIA Security+ or equivalent DoD-aligned certification.
Benefits and work setup
- The annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 to $145,000, based on scope, experience, skills, and market considerations. - Benefits package includes paid time off available immediately, paid parental leave, individual and family health, dental, and vision coverage, an annual training and professional-development budget, tuition reimbursement, and a 401(k) plan with company match that vests after 60 days of employment.
