Senior Software Engineer, Java and React

Role overview Lead hands-on delivery of dependable software, building Java services and React applications for operational needs. You’ll shape architecture for complex features while working with product, design, QA, DevOps, and delivery partners, and help strengthen the team through mentoring and shared engineering practices.

Responsibilities - Design and implement Java and Spring Boot services, React and TypeScript interfaces, and supporting data models. - Own API contracts, database design, integration patterns, and technical decisions for complex features. - Build security, performance, observability, resilience, and testability into production systems. - Review code and improve shared standards for implementation, testing, documentation, and releases. - Mentor less experienced engineers through pairing, design discussions, and actionable feedback. - Clarify scope and tradeoffs with stakeholders, and investigate production risks and incidents through to durable fixes.

Requirements - At least four years of professional software engineering or development experience. - Strong experience delivering production systems with Java and Spring Boot, plus React, TypeScript, or related web technologies. - Ability to design maintainable APIs, relational data models, and distributed integrations. - Practical knowledge of automated testing, application security, performance analysis, and observability. - Experience making architectural decisions with clear tradeoffs and avoiding unnecessary complexity. - Ability to mentor teammates while staying hands-on with implementation and troubleshooting.

Nice to have - Experience with Next.js, PostgreSQL, messaging systems, or event-driven architecture. - Experience with containers on a major cloud platform, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, or incident response. - Background delivering technology for Philippine small businesses or other resource-conscious settings.
