Lead Engineer (Accounting Core Team)

Role overview

A Staff-level engineering position focused on solving complex engineering problems at scale within a global accounting platform. The role centers on modernizing monolithic systems into distributed architectures while mentoring other engineers and shaping technical standards across the organization. The position is remote within Washington State, with regular collaboration time aligned to teams in Australia and New Zealand.

Responsibilities

- Refactor monolithic components into distributed, scalable architectures - Make major code design decisions and contribute to global engineering standards - Mentor and coach engineers through complex technical challenges - Enhance developer experience through CI/CD maturation, tooling, and TDD practices - Design and implement technical solutions aligned with long-term engineering frameworks - Build and maintain systems using a diverse stack that includes C#, .NET, React, AWS, and Kubernetes

Requirements

- Proven experience delivering and operating complex, large-scale distributed or high-availability systems - Ability to ramp quickly across adjacent technologies with strong engineering fundamentals - Background designing high-quality software across multiple languages and tools - Experience leading major code design decisions and contributing to technical solutioning - Familiarity with modern engineering practices including automated testing, refactoring, and agile delivery - Passion for mentoring engineers and proactively sharing technical knowledge
