Remote job
Software Engineer, Identity Platform
Job details
About this role
Role overview
Join a fast-growing identity infrastructure team as a backend engineer focused on the data backbone that powers every product in the platform. You'll design and operate high-volume sync pipelines that ingest identity data from hundreds of third-party integrations and turn it into trusted primitives other teams build on. This is a startup role with significant ownership: shaping architecture, closing observability gaps, and hardening systems that IT and security teams rely on daily.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain core stages of an identity sync pipeline (ingestion, transform, validation, install) using Dagster or comparable orchestration tooling. - Develop a reusable sync observability framework covering monitoring, alerting, failure detection, and operational dashboards. - Partner with adjacent teams to identify reliability gaps, catch stalled jobs early, and prevent customer-facing incidents. - Implement safety mechanisms such as circuit breakers, retries, idempotency controls, and self-healing reconciliation flows. - Lead technical decisions through design reviews, mentoring, and pairing on complex correctness and data-quality challenges. - Champion resilience, observability, and scalability across every layer of the sync stack.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a backend or platform engineer building production data pipelines that other teams depend on. - Hands-on expertise with orchestration frameworks like Dagster or Airflow, plus sharp instincts for idempotency, retries, and operational visibility. - Proficiency in at least one modern backend language such as Python, Go, or TypeScript, with a focus on clean APIs and testability. - Strong sense for data correctness, SLOs, and shift-left detection, with a bias toward catching partial failures before customers do. - Familiarity with identity and access concepts (accounts, entitlements, group memberships) and how their freshness and traceability affect downstream governance.
Nice to have
- Background working with identity governance (IGA) data and the operational complexity of high-volume, integration-heavy systems.
Benefits and work setup
- Salary range: $174,615 – $227,000 plus equity. - Remote-first within ±4 hours of Pacific Time. - Medical, dental, and vision insurance (100% employee premiums covered, 60% dependents), with HSA/FSA options. - Mental health resources, monthly wellness stipend, and life plus short- and long-term disability coverage. - Flexible PTO with a minimum annual requirement, up to 16 weeks paid parental leave, and a $1,000 annual learning stipend. - 401(k) with employer matching and company-funded offsites.
