GCP Data Architect

Role overview Design the architecture of a modern data platform on Google Cloud, from data flows and integrations to operational safeguards. The role combines hands-on solution design with architectural guidance, documentation, and workshops involving technical and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities - Define end-to-end data ingestion and processing designs, selecting suitable Google Cloud services. - Model data flows and design platform and application architectures, including synchronous, asynchronous, and event-driven integrations. - Establish approaches for disaster recovery, data retention, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code. - Produce architecture diagrams and high-level, low-level, and decision-record documentation. - Facilitate architecture workshops and explain technology choices to stakeholder groups.

Requirements - Demonstrated experience designing data architectures and end-to-end data processing on Google Cloud. - Knowledge of BigQuery and either dbt or Dataproc. - Experience with data modeling, data-flow design, and patterns such as Medallion or Hub and Spoke. - Familiarity with services such as Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Composer, and Dataproc, including service integration. - Experience with GitHub Enterprise Cloud, CI/CD, and Terraform. - Clear communication skills and experience presenting and defending architectural decisions.

Nice to have - Experience with enterprise-scale cloud data platforms or highly regulated environments. - Familiarity with cloud governance, security, and operational practices.
