Principal Engineer

Role overview Set the architecture direction for a global consumer platform expanding into isolated regions with distinct data-residency requirements. The work spans shared services, a flagship app, and the connections between regional environments, combining hands-on engineering with technical leadership across teams.

Responsibilities - Assess the initial regional implementation and identify what is ready, what blocks an isolated launch, and what could complicate later expansion. - Guide shared services such as identity, loyalty, and partner integrations so they can operate independently in each region. - Keep the consumer app’s internationalization aligned as its underlying services evolve. - Define how services communicate within and across regions, including regional boundaries for data in Cassandra and PostgreSQL. - Design Kafka patterns for self-contained regional use and cross-region replication where needed. - Shape repeatable regional infrastructure using Kubernetes and Terraform, with explicit configuration and visible drift; coordinate decisions across teams.

Requirements - Experience launching systems in isolated regions under data-residency rules and operating multi-region services, including data and failover decisions. - History of leading architecture across multiple teams or services. - Senior Go skills and enough React experience to make changes confidently. - Strong working knowledge of Cassandra, PostgreSQL, and Kafka in distributed environments. - Kubernetes and Terraform expertise at platform-design level. - Clear technical judgment, including the ability to explain risks to stakeholders with evidence, and a commitment to helping other engineers grow.
