Senior or Staff Software Engineer

Role overview

Senior or Staff-level individual contributor role focused on turning ambiguous, high-impact problems into production AI products. You will own work from problem definition through deployment and measurement, combining backend engineering, LLM infrastructure, product judgment, and close attention to customer and business outcomes. This is a hands-on role with substantial autonomy rather than a people-management position.

Responsibilities

- Lead core AI-powered product initiatives end to end, including scoping, implementation, launch, and impact measurement. - Design, build, and improve production LLM systems such as retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, agents, embedding workflows, evaluation systems, and fine-tuning processes. - Make architecture decisions across backend services, APIs, SQL and vector databases, and cloud infrastructure. - Investigate the surrounding marketing, search, and content-automation domain to guide practical engineering and product trade-offs. - Evaluate technical choices against user value, revenue contribution, and retention rather than technical elegance alone. - Work directly with company leadership and cross-functional partners in a fast-moving, product-oriented environment.

Requirements

- Strong professional proficiency in Python. - Solid understanding of system design, API design, SQL databases, vector databases, and cloud infrastructure. - At least two years of experience building and operating production systems involving LLMs, RAG, agents, embeddings, evaluations, or fine-tuning. - Ability to explain the practical differences between retrieval-augmented generation and fine-tuning, including when each approach is appropriate. - Demonstrated ability to define solutions for vague problems, deliver independently, and iterate using real user or business feedback. - Strong product and business judgment, with a willingness to learn the domain deeply and connect engineering decisions to measurable outcomes.

Nice to have

- Open-source contributions or a published technical blog showing depth of engineering thought. - Experience with SEO, generative engine optimization, AI search, or content automation. - Founding-engineer experience or a track record of taking products from zero to one.
