Remote job
Senior Frontend Engineer (Remote)
Job details
About this role
Role overview A senior frontend-leaning engineer will own end-to-end product surfaces for a large-scale creator platform serving over a million daily active users across web, mobile, and browser extension clients. The role blends frontend craft with backend, API, and data work, while embedding AI-native practices into how the team plans, builds, reviews, and ships software. The position is fully remote and open globally, with engagement structure determined by location and legal fit.
Responsibilities - Own key product surfaces end to end, including direction-setting, performance tracking, and deciding what to improve next. - Build and modify backend APIs, services, and data flows when features demand it, rather than waiting on other teams. - Propose and drive a roadmap drawn from user feedback, telemetry, and codebase opportunities, aligning with product and design partners. - Lead a refactor of legacy JavaScript features into TypeScript to improve maintainability and performance, using AI-assisted tools where they accelerate quality work. - Ship AI-driven product experiences spanning model integration, prompt design, streaming responses, error handling, and graceful UX under unpredictable model output. - Diagnose bottlenecks across the full request path and strengthen the system through testing, monitoring, error reporting, and durable ownership after launch.
Requirements - At least five years of professional software development experience. - Strong frontend depth with React, Next.js, TypeScript, Vite, and Tailwind, plus comfort designing APIs, writing server-side code, working with databases, and debugging across the client-server boundary. - Demonstrated self-direction: ability to start without a detailed spec, make decisions, ask the right questions, and move work forward independently. - Track record of leading projects from concept through completion, documenting the work and teaching others along the way. - Owner mindset that proactively catches and fixes breakage, performance regressions, or user confusion in areas of responsibility. - Clear written and verbal communication, including explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences. - Heavy, thoughtful daily use of AI coding assistants and agents, with critical evaluation of their output.
Nice to have - Experience with LLM integration patterns, including streaming, prompt design, and graceful handling of model failures. - Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or GitHub Copilot, and an interest in shaping responsible team practices around them. - Background modernizing large JavaScript codebases to TypeScript at scale.
Benefits and work setup - Fully remote position open to candidates worldwide. - Compensation philosophy rooted in internal equity and geography-based pay, with the upper range reserved for candidates demonstrating exceptional job knowledge and skills. - A culture that prioritizes collaboration, creativity, personal growth, and diversity, with stated commitment to enabling people to do their best work.
