About this role
Role overview Keep complex network and communications services operating by diagnosing failures across hardware, software, IP networks, and satellite communications systems. The role combines hands-on troubleshooting, remote support, customer and vendor coordination, preventive maintenance, and investigation of underlying causes so recurring problems can be reduced.
Responsibilities - Troubleshoot and correct complex failures across standard and nonstandard customer and service-provider configurations, including integrated systems. - Restore service through equipment replacement, upgrades, reconfiguration, routing changes, or coordination with on-site technical support. - Advise remote field engineers and work with customers or vendors to resolve equipment and network problems. - Investigate root causes using logs, repair data, lab reproduction, and input from development teams; update procedures and training based on findings. - Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, backups, calibration, measurements, and checks of system operation and redundancy. - Review performance trends and support reliable service across network and satellite communications equipment.
Requirements - Advanced to expert capability in several technical areas, particularly IP networking and satellite communications/RF. - Ability to troubleshoot interactions among hardware, software, network platforms, and varied equipment configurations. - Skill in analyzing logs and technical evidence to identify underlying causes, not just restore service. - Ability to coordinate effectively with remote field personnel, customers, vendors, and engineering teams. - Willingness to work variable or extended hours, independently or with teammates.
Benefits and work setup - Work may be performed on site, through remote access, or by coordinating with on-site technical staff by phone. - Compensation is listed at $120,500–$190,000 annually, with a higher stated range of $149,500–$224,500 for specified high-cost metropolitan areas. Pay depends on role-related skills and experience. - The source notes potential cash or stock incentives and medical, financial, and other benefits; package details depend on the position.
