Senior Software Engineer - Metadata

Role overview Join a team responsible for the metadata services that help users discover data assets and understand their structure, lineage, and execution history. You’ll lead feature work across APIs and data models, improving their performance, reliability, and capabilities while working with product and quality engineering partners.

Responsibilities - Design and deliver features and performance improvements for discovery, catalog, lineage, and run history services. - Build, test, and maintain reliable code; improve high-traffic paths and reduce technical debt. - Write feature designs, explain trade-offs, and contribute constructive feedback in design and code reviews. - Investigate production issues and help document incidents, mitigations, and follow-up work. - Plan feature work, break it into deliverable tasks, and coordinate with product, quality engineering, support, and engineering peers. - Participate in periodic on-call coverage and apply security awareness throughout development.

Requirements - At least five years of software engineering experience, including building backend services or reusable components. - Experience with distributed systems and cloud computing concepts. - Ability to produce well-structured, performant, well-tested code and independently lead feature-level design and delivery. - Strong collaboration and communication skills, including the ability to seek and incorporate feedback.

Nice to have - Experience with Python, Rust, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, GCP, or Datadog. - Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and using them to draft or review engineering artifacts.
