About this role
Role overview
Help launch a new global Site Reliability Engineering function supporting the rollout of a SaaS data resilience platform. As a hands-on technical leader, you will build reliability-by-default libraries, services, and tooling that product engineering teams adopt at scale, primarily on Azure.
Responsibilities
- Build productized reliability code such as deployment safety guards, rate-limiters, circuit breakers, load-shedding adapters, and back-pressure controls - Define the observability data model, telemetry pipelines, SLIs, SLOs, and error-budget policies; ship SDKs and CLI tools that let teams declare SLOs in code - Develop a change safety toolchain including progressive delivery primitives, automated rollback, and CI/CD integrations - Create resilience automation through fault-injection APIs, chaos experiments, traffic shadowing, and load and performance harnesses - Ship golden-path platform components such as Terraform or Pulumi modules, Kubernetes operators, Helm charts, and reference microservice templates - Lead complex incidents during daytime hours, drive blameless learning, and mentor senior engineers through design reviews, ADRs, and pair programming
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience on cloud-based products, with significant time designing or operating distributed systems at scale - Strong proficiency in at least one backend language such as C#, Java, Go, or TypeScript/Node.js - Deep hands-on experience with Kubernetes, infrastructure as code (Terraform or Pulumi), and CI/CD systems like GitHub Actions, GitLab, or ArgoCD - Practical observability expertise across metrics, tracing, and logging, with experience turning SLOs and error budgets into engineering workflows - Demonstrated ability to lead cross-team initiatives and influence architecture to deliver measurable reliability outcomes - Comfort with a follow-the-sun on-call rotation
Nice to have
- Experience designing distributed multi-region services on Azure
Benefits and work setup
- Comprehensive benefits package including health coverage and retirement plans, plus unlimited time off - Family planning support through Maven and paid volunteer time - 24/7 virtual veterinary care at no cost - Legal services, identity protection, and supplemental health insurance options - Tax-advantaged spending accounts for healthcare, dependent care, and commuting - Continuous learning through on-demand libraries, mentoring, workshops, and annual company-wide learning events - Target total compensation ranges vary by US geographic zone, spanning approximately $172,400–$441,500 USD inclusive of base and performance-based bonus
