Remote job
Senior Developer Productivity Engineer
Job details
About this role
Role overview This is a senior engineering role dedicated to amplifying the throughput and quality of an internal engineering organization at an AI-driven time platform for professional services firms. The position designs, ships, and iterates on AI-powered developer tooling that serves engineers across frontend, backend, AI/ML, infrastructure, and forward-deployed teams. Expect a fast-moving environment where projects are rapidly completed, released, and re-architected as the underlying frontier models evolve.
Responsibilities - Partner with engineering teams and individual contributors to map current workflows, identify friction, and roll out improved tooling and processes. - Evaluate emerging offerings from frontier AI labs, infrastructure providers, hyperscalers, and neoclouds, then integrate the worthwhile pieces into the engineering stack. - Build CI/CD systems optimized for both high throughput and agent interactivity, supporting hybrid human-and-agent consumption patterns. - Develop connective software across APIs, SDKs, agent primitives, and configuration layers so new tools are actually adopted rather than abandoned. - Drive distribution and adoption of internal tools by teaching teams, gathering qualitative feedback and telemetry, and iterating based on usage data. - Track the fast-moving AI tooling landscape and form opinionated judgments about what to pursue, buy, or skip.
Requirements - 4+ years in Platform, Infrastructure, Developer Experience, or DevOps roles, ideally within startups. - Demonstrated ability to independently architect and ship complex systems with high ownership and minimal oversight. - Strong experience with APIs, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and data-intensive applications. - Hands-on building with agent primitives such as MCPs, hooks, SDKs, multi-agent routing, and context/cost management. - Non-negotiable fluency with Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, Go, TypeScript, Linux administration, Git, and CI tooling, plus prior on-call rotation experience. - Clear communication style that works for both engineers and non-technical stakeholders, with comfort navigating ambiguous, fast-changing requirements.
Nice to have - Configuration management experience using Nix/NixOS, Homebrew, or MDM tools. - Deep care for iteration speed, customer outcomes, and engineering judgment under uncertainty.
Benefits and work setup - Remote-first role, with a strong preference for candidates based near hubs in San Francisco, Los Angeles, or New York City. - Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage with premiums covered, a 401(k), and equity. - Wellness, commuter, and FSA stipends on top of core benefits. - Bi-annual in-person company off-sites in unique locations. - Flexible sick-leave policy that prioritizes team coverage and personal recovery. - Visa sponsorship and relocation assistance are not currently supported.
