Role overview A senior pre-sales engineering role is open on a specialist team dedicated to a Kubernetes-native data protection platform built for cloud-native and AI-driven workloads. The position partners with a regional sales specialist to own the full technical sales cycle—discovery, architecture, demonstrations, proof of concept, and technical close—across enterprise accounts in the western and central United States. It is a quota-carrying, customer-facing position with accountability for the technical win and a strong preference for candidates based in the Pacific time zone.
Responsibilities - Drive all pre-sales technical activity across assigned enterprise territories, including discovery, solution architecture, product demonstrations, and proof-of-concept execution - Deliver technical presentations to enterprise architects, technical evaluators, and senior leadership - Design data protection solutions mapped to customer requirements and enterprise security or compliance frameworks - Scope and run proofs of concept to technical closure on aggressive timelines - Translate business objectives into Kubernetes data protection requirements and reference architectures - Support lead generation through industry events, webinars, and technical briefings - Co-sell with ecosystem partners such as hyperscalers and major Kubernetes platform vendors - Work with regional channel partners and system integrators on partner-led technical evaluations - Channel structured field feedback back to product management on requirements and roadmap gaps - Travel up to 40% within US West/Central with occasional global trips
Requirements - 7+ years of pre-sales or solutions engineering experience selling enterprise software into North American enterprise accounts - 5+ years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes platforms in production or evaluation environments, including OpenShift, Amazon EKS, or comparable systems - Working knowledge of Kubernetes data protection, backup and recovery strategies, and cloud-native storage architectures - Familiarity with enterprise procurement processes and channel sales dynamics - Ability to translate complex technical capabilities into business value for both technical and executive audiences - Strong verbal and written communication skills, including presenting to groups of varied seniority - A hands-on, resourceful, and outcome-driven working style suited to a fast-moving environment
Nice to have - Prior experience selling Kubernetes platforms, cloud-native infrastructure, or data resilience solutions - Track record selling into enterprise DevOps, Platform Engineering, or IT Operations teams - Familiarity with OpenShift, Amazon EKS, or VMware Tanzu ecosystems - Experience launching or scaling a new product inside an existing enterprise account base - Background at a high-growth or scaling-stage organization
