About this role

Role overview

Lead a multi-team engineering organization through its managers, with accountability for delivery, quality, reliability, and the development of engineering leaders. Working with senior engineering peers and product and design leaders, you’ll turn business priorities into executable roadmaps and help establish practices that support the organization as it grows.

Responsibilities

- Set goals and provide feedback and development paths for managers and engineers; hire, coach, and address performance needs among engineering managers. - Plan headcount and lead hiring across roles and levels. - Own delivery planning, estimates, risk management, and releases for your area. - Guide technical direction within the broader architecture and weigh in on high-impact design decisions. - Take responsibility for the reliability, security, and performance of team-owned systems. - Improve developer productivity by streamlining CI/CD and releases, shortening feedback cycles, and reducing routine engineering work. - Partner with engineering peers, product, design, and client-facing teams on standards, roadmaps, and customer outcomes; manage budgets and report on team health and delivery.

Requirements

- At least 10 years of engineering leadership experience, including senior roles and managing managers of managers. - Experience leading multiple engineering teams through managers, including hiring, developing, and managing their performance. - Record of delivering customer-facing software-as-a-service products reliably as teams and products scale. - Strong grounding in modern software engineering, including cloud infrastructure, CI/CD, and iterative delivery, with sound architectural judgment. - Experience working with executive leaders and cross-functional partners, and explaining technical choices to business stakeholders and customers. - Experience managing engineering budgets and headcount plans, including in a fast-growing organization.

Nice to have

- Experience with advertising technology, marketing technology, high-volume data platforms, or third-party advertising APIs.

Benefits and work setup

The role requires residence in the Greater Toronto Area. The organization describes its setup as remote-first, with home-office support and annual company retreats.
