Role overview
Lead the architecture and lifecycle delivery of embedded software for mission systems, guiding a team that develops reliable software for specialized hardware. The work spans customer requirements, software design, integration, testing and maintenance, with an emphasis on safety, regulatory and industry standards. The position is described as virtual, with occasional travel.
Responsibilities
- Direct the design, development, testing, debugging and maintenance of embedded software. - Translate customer needs into software requirements and product designs for specialized devices and systems. - Advise on embedded code and on integration between software and hardware. - Guide analysis and improvement of system efficiency and stability, including test and debugging work. - Shape the use of relevant technologies, tools and frameworks, and advise on software and hardware integration practices. - Monitor internal and supplier team performance against project plans and standards; provide technical leadership and management advice.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. - At least five years leading a software development team through the full software lifecycle. - At least five years in software architecture and design for embedded systems. - Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required for that clearance.
Nice to have
- Experience with real-time software, flight management or civil navigation systems, or software certification under DO-178C. - Background in motion planning, estimation or control, and development or simulation with C++ or MATLAB/Simulink. - Experience with software architecture methods and collaboration across organizational teams.

The role is virtual and lists travel at approximately 5%. Relocation may be available to eligible candidates. Benefits may include health coverage, savings plans, insurance and paid or unpaid leave, subject to eligibility and location. The listed senior-level pay range is $249,900–$338,100. Visa sponsorship is not offered.
