Role overview A remote, U.S.-based customer support role handling inbound patient calls in a high-volume healthcare call center. The position focuses on assisting patients with billing and insurance questions, processing payments, and escalating complex issues to the accounts receivable team. The shift runs 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern, and the work takes place from a quiet, HIPAA-compliant home office.
Responsibilities - Answer a steady stream of inbound patient calls, addressing questions about bills, insurance, and account balances. - Take payments over the phone and arrange payment plans for patients who need them. - Escalate unresolved billing or account issues to the accounts receivable team and route complex calls to a team lead or manager. - Listen actively, build rapport, and resolve concerns courteously while representing the business office and clinics in a professional manner. - Multitask across multiple systems and priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy. - Take on additional duties, special projects, or process improvements as they come up.
Requirements - High school diploma or equivalent experience. - Strong communication skills, both spoken and written, with the ability to present information clearly. - Demonstrated active listening, attention to detail, and the ability to manage several tasks at once. - A self-motivated approach with the discipline to stay on task and check in routinely with the team. - A quiet, distraction-free home workspace that meets HIPAA standards. - Comfort with Microsoft Office Suite or comparable productivity tools.
Nice to have - Prior high-volume call center experience. - Background in medical billing or the healthcare industry.
