Role overview
Build and operate backend systems for a digital lending product that helps consumers access flexible credit. This hands-on software engineering role covers services, APIs, and data flows supporting offer generation, pricing, underwriting, funding, and account management. You will own meaningful features from design through production, collaborate across disciplines, and help improve reliability and borrower experience.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain dependable backend services and APIs across the borrower journey. - Develop capabilities for pricing, underwriting, funding, account management, and related financial workflows. - Integrate backend services with customer-facing applications and external or partner systems as needed. - Work with product, design, and engineering partners to scope, build, test, and launch improvements. - Write maintainable, well-tested code; participate in code reviews and help strengthen engineering practices. - Improve scalability, performance, observability, and operational reliability, including diagnosing production issues. - Support experimentation and iterative product development through flexible services and data-informed decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, plus at least four years of professional software engineering experience. - Strong backend development experience with a language such as Python, Java, Kotlin, Ruby, or Node.js. - Experience designing and using REST or GraphQL APIs, data models, and distributed or service-oriented systems. - Solid knowledge of automated testing, maintainable code, and collaborative development through code review. - Ability to work effectively with product and design partners from requirements through production delivery.
Nice to have
- Experience building reliable, scalable systems for consumer products with complex user journeys. - Familiarity with CI/CD, observability, production experimentation, A/B testing, or feature flags. - Exposure to fintech, lending, payments, or other regulated financial products. - Experience using AI-assisted tools in engineering workflows and thoughtful views on their effect on software development.
