Role overview
Lead multiple engineering squads responsible for systems that support customers throughout the life of a loan, from funding through repayment. The role combines people leadership, technical strategy, architecture, and operational execution in a regulated environment where reliability, compliance, borrower experience, and financial performance must be balanced. You will partner closely with Product, Risk, Operations, and other business functions while developing a team of 12 or more engineers.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop two engineering teams responsible for critical servicing products and platforms. - Set and execute multi-quarter engineering strategies aligned with servicing and broader business priorities. - Translate borrower, operational, risk, and business needs into resilient, scalable technical solutions. - Drive architectural clarity and sound technical decisions across complex distributed systems and APIs. - Establish visibility into technical priorities, delivery risks, trade-offs, and roadmap progress. - Hire, coach, and develop engineers and emerging engineering leaders while building a culture of ownership and operational excellence.
Requirements
- 10–15 years of software engineering experience, including 4–7 years in engineering management; the source also identifies 7+ years of engineering management as preferred. - Deep expertise in distributed systems, APIs, and systems design. - Proven leadership experience in fintech, lending, payments, servicing, or another regulated domain. - Track record of defining and delivering complex technical strategies tied to business outcomes. - Experience building high-performing teams, mentoring engineering leaders, and working across Product, Design, Operations, Risk, or similar functions. - Strong product judgment, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Nice to have
Experience leading both product- and platform-oriented engineering teams, modernizing complex systems while continuing to deliver customer-facing features, and applying AI or automation to customer experiences, internal workflows, or operational systems.

Most work can be done remotely, with periodic in-person sessions generally occurring once or twice per quarter for several consecutive days.
