Role overview Join a remote-first internship on an applied science team working at the intersection of machine learning and consumer lending. The role focuses on researching, prototyping, and validating model and product improvements that expand access to affordable credit, with mentorship from experienced practitioners.
Responsibilities - Investigate machine learning and statistical techniques to lift the predictive performance or business value of models. - Design, implement, and evaluate model, product, or technical enhancements through rigorous experimentation and validation. - Translate research findings into clear recommendations, documented methodologies, and production-ready solutions. - Lead self-directed offline analyses and present results, hypotheses, and trade-offs to the machine learning team. - Partner with a mentor to align cross-functional stakeholders and drive next steps.
Requirements - Bachelor's, master's, or PhD in mathematics, statistics, physics, econometrics, computer science, or a related quantitative field, on track to graduate by 2028. - Solid grounding in probability, statistics, and machine learning theory. - Ability to analyze data and evaluate ML or statistical models in Python, plus working knowledge of SQL. - Intellectual curiosity, humility, drive, and comfort working as part of a team. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Comfort using modern agentic development tools such as Claude Code or Codex.
Nice to have - PhD in a quantitative discipline, on track to graduate by summer 2028. - Hands-on experience with supervised learning, model evaluation, and feature engineering. - Familiarity with frequentist, Bayesian, or causal inference methods and econometrics. - Strong Python coding skills.
