About this role
Role overview Work on a full-stack team building and improving the core software behind a European cloud platform used by tens of thousands of customers. The role focuses on the compute and storage layers of the stack, including VM provisioning, CPU, and GPU resources, built on a distributed microservices architecture using Perl and Go. It is a hands-on developer position with significant freedom and responsibility, sitting at the intersection of systems programming and customer-facing product work.
Responsibilities - Work within an experienced team focused on core cloud software, especially computation and storage - Improve and further develop the provisioning and components that power the entire cloud stack - Focus on the Compute stack, including VM provisioning, CPU, and GPU functionality - Enhance internal integrations and collaborate with other development teams - Participate in building the next generation of cloud offerings, such as improved storage and compute plans
Requirements - Full-stack or backend development skills, with hands-on experience in Perl and Golang or similar languages - Understanding of virtualization, Linux servers, bare-metal environments, or other large-scale systems - Practical knowledge of API development and modern development practices - A proactive work mindset with the ability to take ownership and drive work forward
Nice to have - Frontend development skills, ideally with React, TypeScript, and Next.js - Knowledge of hypervisors, the Linux networking stack, and virtual storage solutions - Understanding of the Linux platform, including kernel parameters, initrd, and systemd - Experience applying CI/CD and other automation tooling, along with Git - Experience working with distributed architectures and building microservices - Understanding of customer expectations for cloud infrastructure
