About this role
Role overview A field-based network engineering position covering sites around Woking, Guildford, and areas outside the M25 in south/southwest London. The engineer will design, deploy, and maintain Cisco Meraki network environments, ensuring reliable connectivity, security, and performance across multiple customer locations. The role blends hands-on troubleshooting with design, automation, and infrastructure planning for enterprise and public-sector clients.
Responsibilities - Design, implement, and operate Cisco Meraki network solutions across diverse sites, ensuring secure and scalable connectivity. - Administer development, test, and production environments, performing installs, upgrades, and removals of software packages. - Monitor network systems daily, addressing functionality, connectivity, and load-balancing issues proactively. - Contribute to network design, tuning, and optimisation using industry best practices and recommend hardware/software to meet requirements. - Plan and execute performance, stress, and load tests, documenting recommendations based on results. - Build scripting automations to streamline operations, run scheduled security scans, and provide Level 2/3 support for complex incidents.
Requirements - Proven expertise designing and supporting Cisco Meraki network solutions. - Strong understanding of network protocols, security best practices, and infrastructure management. - Experience scripting and automating network operations. - Ability to analyse complex technical issues and deliver practical solutions. - Comfortable working independently across multiple sites in the Woking, Guildford, and south/southwest London region.
Nice to have - Experience with cloud and infrastructure services, enterprise computing, or digital workplace environments. - Interest in emerging networking technologies and ongoing professional development.
