Enterprise AI Data Strategist

Role overview

This is a strategy and execution role responsible for defining the internal data foundation needed to support an organization's AI transformation. The position blends architecture-level decision making with hands-on technical work, setting standards and a prioritized roadmap that other teams then build against. The role focuses specifically on internal data for AI and does not own product or customer-facing data architecture, company-wide reporting and BI, or day-to-day administration of source systems.

Responsibilities

- Define a clear, practical strategy for the internal data foundation supporting the organization's AI roadmap, with clear owners, dependencies, and outcomes - Assess the current data environment and turn the most important gaps into a prioritized roadmap with measurable targets - Use priority AI initiatives as proving grounds for the architecture and as a way to develop reusable patterns for other teams - Define how internal data should be organized, connected, secured, and made available to AI tools, agents, and workflows - Set standards for data access, permissions, integration, compatibility, and reuse across teams - Set the data quality, metadata, source-of-truth, ownership, and stewardship requirements needed for reliable AI - Work with Legal, Security, IT, and business owners to apply existing governance, privacy, and risk processes to AI data use - Coordinate across business owners, AI builders, technical specialists, security partners, and system experts to move shared priorities forward

Requirements

- Deep knowledge of designing data and knowledge foundations for enterprise AI using both structured and unstructured data - Strong understanding of how AI assistants, agents, and workflows consume enterprise data, including retrieval, grounding, context, identity, metadata, and permissions - Practical knowledge of cloud data platforms, integration patterns, data modeling, data quality, governance, lineage, freshness, and monitoring - Ability to design secure, reliable ways for AI systems to access and, where appropriate, update source systems - Ability to move fluidly between strategy, architecture, and technical detail while staying anchored in business needs - Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical choices in plain language to non-technical partners - A practical, collaborative approach to solving problems in a fast-moving environment

Benefits and work setup

- Salary range of $170,000 to $200,000 per year, with eligibility for employee equity and discretionary bonus compensation subject to applicable plans - Eligibility to participate in the organization's employee benefits plans
