Role overview
This Staff Security Engineer role centers on threat hunting within a global Threat Detection and Response organization. The position partners closely with R&D engineering and product teams to design scalable processes, build custom detective tooling, and automate security workflows. It is a senior, hands-on technical role that includes on-call duties and direct involvement in incident response.
Responsibilities
- Participate in daily operations including on-call rotation, application and systems threat modeling, and incident response activities - Architect and develop performant detective tooling, automation pipelines, and supporting services - Help define detection and response strategy, build multi-year roadmaps, and ensure timely delivery of prioritized initiatives - Collaborate across teams to address a broad spectrum of threat actors and adversarial activity - Identify the areas of the incident response program that would benefit most from investment - Conduct security research, technology research, and architecture reviews to deepen understanding of the platform being defended - Build systems that turn complex security challenges into simple, frictionless experiences - Mentor teammates and cultivate strong working relationships with internal partner groups
Requirements
- 3+ years of security engineering experience in a production cloud environment - Recognized subject-matter expertise in security issues and modern defensive technologies - Hands-on experience designing and building AI agents and agentic workflows - Ability to apply AI techniques to complex threat hunting and to produce high-fidelity detections - Experience detecting and responding to AI-related threats using MITRE ATLAS or comparable frameworks - Strong knowledge of service-oriented architectures and cloud-native security tooling - Practical experience with SIEM platforms, SOAR tools, and automating manual security processes - Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code approaches such as Terraform or CloudFormation - Production experience with AWS, GCP, or another major cloud provider

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Ability to influence stakeholders and build effective working relationships at every organizational level - BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience
