Role overview Join a Voice Connectivity Trust team responsible for keeping voice services reliable for customers who depend on answered calls. The role spans the full software development life cycle, from gathering requirements with product managers through design, estimation, coding, testing, deployment, and on-call support, all within an Agile delivery flow that operates real-time services at global scale.
Responsibilities - Design, implement, and operationalize real-time services with high throughput and low latency requirements. - Collaborate with stakeholders to understand customer needs and deliver simple, robust, and scalable solutions. - Express technical ideas in detailed written form to collaborate effectively with leads, architects, and cross-functional teams. - Scale a globally distributed platform with multiple points of presence, balancing availability, reliability, throughput, latency, and media fidelity. - Operate and maintain services in a distributed production environment and participate in on-call rotations. - Explore novel approaches to solving customer problems for the Voice channel.
Requirements - 2+ years of hands-on experience building distributed applications on JVM-based technologies. - Experience designing RESTful services, APIs, and event-driven architectures using Kafka or SQS. - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud infrastructure such as AWS, GCP, OpenStack, or Azure. - Strong Java fundamentals, with the ability to architect, review, and debug code. - Solid computer science fundamentals and a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related engineering field. - Demonstrated proficiency with AI coding assistants (such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor) and the ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code.
Nice to have - Experience with monitoring and alerting tools such as Prometheus, Datadog, or Grafana. - Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases and caching technologies at scale. - Hands-on experience scaling production backend systems under load. - Familiarity with the SIP protocol and the Stir/Shaken framework.
